When you have bought an ID-License or PC-License, you can input the license key to the authorization window to activate a full version. First of all, you need to install AthTek Skype Recorder to your computer. Run Skype, then you will be asked to allow the recorder’s access to Skype.

Then your Skype recorder will be connected to Skype. You would be able to see your Skype name on top left of AthTek Skype Recorder. Click the [Register] link on top right corner and you will access the authorization window of AthTek Skype Recorder.

In the authorization window, please input the license key to the key field and click [Register] button to license your AthTek Skype Recorder. Please note that there should be no blank space existing in the key field, otherwise you cannot register AthTek Skype Recorder successfully.

1. Where can I find the registration/authorization window?
Authorization window is not a web page which you can open up in a browser. When you have got Skype connected to the recorder, you would be able to access the authorization window by clicking the [Register] link on top right corner of AthTek Skype Recorder.

2. AthTek Skype Recorder doesn’t accept my license key, why?
Please check the following items:
a. Your Skype ID is exactly the same as you input when you generated the license key.
b. There was no blank space existing in the key field when you clicked the Register button.
If there was no problem about these items, please capture a snapshot of the authorization window and send it to support@athtek.com me for further troubleshooting.

3. I cannot get the recorder connected to Skype anyway, how?
Please do as follow to get Skype recognize the recorder:
a. Completely quit both Skype and recorder on your computer.
b. Go to the installation folder of Skype (default path: C:\Program Files\Skype\) and right click on Skype.exe, select [Run as administrator].
c. Right click on AthTek Skype Recorder’s icon and select [Run as administrator] to run it.
Within 20 seconds, Skype should be able to find AthTek Skype Recorder.

4. I can’t find Skype.exe in my computer, why?
This is mainly because you are using an integrated version Skype on the computer. Please download and install a desktop version Skype, then the problem will be solved. You can download Skype v6.8 directly here for free.

If you have got the key but failed to register AthTek Skype Recorder, please read Registration Troubleshooting.

When you have got your kids’ Skype connected to the recorder, you can now configure AthTek Skype Recorder for parental control. Please go to [Tools] > [Options…] > [General], you need to make the options as follow. Please make the recorder automatically start with Windows in case of missing any Skype call. Please unselect the option of “Show prompt messages in system tray” in case of box popup. Please unselect the option of “Check for updates…” in case of the update checker popup. Click [OK] to save the settings.

Then go to [Tools] > [Options…] > [Advanced] to enable Hidden Mode of AthTek Skype Recorder. Please select the option of “Hidden Mode” and unselect the option of “Notify the contact”. Below the Hidden Mode option, you can set hot keys to pop up the recorder. When AthTek Skype Recorder runs in Hidden Mode, it will be completely invisible on the desktop. These hot keys can help you to pop up the recorder to the desktop. Please remember that carefully. You’d better unselect the notification option before starting a parental control. If not, the contacts will be notified when your kids get through the Skype call. Then click [OK] to save your settings and start to use Hidden Mode.

When you have got everything ready for parental control, you can now let your kids to use this computer. After they have made Skype calls, you would be able to find the recordings in the saving path. You can set the folder as a Share Folder, then you would be able to access the saving path remotely from another computer. Quick easy, isn’t it?

PC-License:
PC-License is generated by a PC Code and the license will be associated to the PC. Every PC device has an exclusive MAC address. With an encryption process, AthTek Skype Recorder convert an MAC address to a PC Code. This means PC Code represents the MAC address of a computer and it is exclusive like MAC address. PC-License is based on PC Code. With a PC-License, you can use AthTek Skype Recorder to record calls from multiple Skype accounts on the computer, no additional fee will be charged. Buyers will be asked to fill in the PC Code to generate a license after payment. You can find exactly your PC Code in the registration window of AthTek Skype Recorder.

Lite License:
Lite License is kind of ID-License. It has the same features with ID-License. The differences are, Lite License costs only $15 and it can only be licensed to AthTek Skype Recorder Lite. Buyers can upgrade Lite License to ID-License and the upgrade fee is $19.

Previous versions can be used on Windows 8. However, we initially received reports of some compatibility issues using Windows 8.1. We found the problems and fixed them in AthTek Skype Recorder v6.11.

* “Send notification to contact” is the Default setting
